After returning home, David worked as a Paralegal until he completed his Canadian equivalency at the University of British Columbia. Since then, David has practiced law in Penticton, specializing in general civil litigation, with a particular interest on personal injury law, family law and employment law. He has appeared as counsel in all levels of court in British Columbia and has appeared at trial before both judges and juries. David has worked in the legal profession since 1998.

“I enjoy the challenges and diversity of new experiences that the practice of law brings. I take satisfaction in being in a profession that permits me to assist people through particularly difficult and stressful periods in their lives.”

In 2011, David and his wife, Monika, decided to set out on their own and start their law firm. A love of the local mountains was a large reason for naming this new law firm “Hillside Law”. Hillside Law is a family-run business, that is approachable and results-oriented. He enjoys working daily with his wife, as well as his very capable support staff.

In his spare time, David can be found enjoying the South Okanagan outdoors. He is an avid mountain biker, and enjoys spending his down time cycling on the many trails surrounding Penticton or volunteering his time building and maintaining the local trails. In the winter months, he is most likely hitting the slopes at Apex taking in the fresh powder or snowshoeing on the local hills.

Norm’s practice also includes police discipline, criminal law, family and estate matters, and injury litigation. Norm enjoys a variety of fitness and outdoor recreation activities, and is an avid fly-fisher. He joined the Hillside Law team in October of 2015.

Monika is our dynamic office manager and hard-working paralegal. She is very proud to have been born and raised in Penticton. After graduating from Pen-Hi, she attended the Okanagan University College to complete her Legal Assistant Certification.

Monika really enjoys the hands-on work of researching, drafting and helping clients on a daily basis. In her spare time, she practices running and interval training, to keep her in tip-top shape for having fun with her two daughters, her husband, Dave, and their beautiful rescue dogs. As a family, they enjoy mountain biking, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and RV trips throughout Western Canada and the U.S.
