Summer days in Penticton make it hard to decide what to do. There are so many options. Thousands of people visit this town each year to swim, go on a hike, float down the river, take a wine tour, bathe in the summer, and enjoy the beautiful weather. When the weather gets colder, there is still a lot to do in Penticton in the winter months.

Wine Tasting

While the majority of the wineries in the Naramata Beach area close up for the season in October, there are still a few places that have wine tasting year round. The Upper Bench Winery and Creamery is one of the best places to visit on some excellent wine that is paired well with some rich cheeses. The winery is open on a daily basis even during the winter months.

If you love beer, then you should visit the Bad Tattoo Brewery for some great beer and pizza. The Cannery Brewing has some good beers and the best nachos in town. If you are looking for some good beer visit the Tin Whistle Brewing center.

Go Skating

The mountains are only a short drive away and will bring you to a new world. The Apex Ski Resort has the Skating Loop which goes through many snow-covered trees and runs a distance of 1 km. The seating area is close to the parking lot, and there is a small cabin that shows where the loop starts. The tickets to go to this loop are only $4.

Beer and Boulders

The Skaha Bluffs are a great place to go climbing all year, but many people do not want to go too high in the winter months. Thanks to the people at Hoodoo Adventures they can continue to climb with the new climbing gym that opened on Ellis Street.

The challenges may be smaller, but they are still fun. This climbing center is across the street from the Cannery Brewery. This is a great place to experience select events as well such as the Santa Rec Run.

Go on a Hike

The winter does not have to slow people down. There are some great Penticton hiking places to visit in the winter. The trails at Kettle Valley Railway are easy to navigate, and they are great for a short winter walk. The Munson Mountain offers a great view, and it is located between the lake and the town. If you like to go snowshoeing there are many places to visit including the Nickel Plate Nordic Center which is also situated near Apex.

Go Down the Mountain

For people looking for an adrenaline rush, there are some excellent places to visit in Penticton. Out of all the BC resorts, the Apex is one of the best. It is a 50-minute ride outside of town. There are many lifts, challenges places to run, and enough snow to make it a beautiful view.

The Baldy Mountain Resorts are also close by. This is little wait time, and you will feel like you are at your private ski resort. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The local vibe is great, and there are some blue runs to keep you busy.
